I'm an aspiring artist and recently birthed a fasination for kangaroos. Now, being that I live in the U.S.A., I can't easily find one to study. When I actually tried to draw one it ended up as an "epic fail". I'm usually very lazy except when it comes to art, and it annoyed the crap out of me that I couldn't do this. I tried to look up tutorials on the internet but I found none that helped at all. I'm looking to draw something that looks even remotely realistic, not some loony disproportionate Bugs Bunny that looks like a human with multiple tumors... Could you please help?
gosh, I don't know what to suggest! This will sound really annoying, but I found life drawing people the best way to allow me to improve my animal drawings (because life models stay still). As for kangaroos, they're much more imposing and muscly than you might expect. I used to use circles and lines, like this demonstration. You might be able to adapt it for roos!
I thought this was meant to be an 'equine art' blog?? Here's a kangaroo sketch, based on my early morning encounter.

The key is to keep doing it, no matter how crappy you think it looks. If you practice, you can't fail.
